Weaving Workshop

Spring 2014
Date: three Saturdays, April 12, 19, & 26, 2014
Time: 9am to noon

Students enrolling in Weaving Workshop will have the chance to continue developing their weaving skills as they warp the loom and weave their own individual projects. With help when needed, the student will warp the loom with the project of their choice. For some projects, extra help will be available on weave drafting and project planning. Which project will yours be? Let the teacher know your choice so that arrangements can be made.

Mug Rugs for Beginners. Weaving these little rugs for mugs, otherwise known as coasters, is a great way to practice warping the loom. The warp is heavy cotton in one color, and the weft is variegated yarn in the same cotton so the stripes will happen automatically. You will be able to weave as many mug rugs as you have time for.
Chenille Scarf. This scarf in plain weave is easy to weave. When you are finished you will have a very soft and colorful scarf, approximately 6 inches by 65 inches.
M's and O's Scarf. The weave structure of this scarf is actually a Finnish variation of M's and O's, called Leppaliinakangasta. It is easy, but interesting to weave. The scarf in the picture is a sampler scarf with the many different ways of treadling shown; you may decide to weave just one of the sections over and over. Made of Tencel.
Houndstooth Muffler. This warm wool muffler, or scarf, gets its interesting look mainly from the way the colors interact when woven; this is an example of what is called color-and-weave. You will need to choose one light color and one dark color for the project.
